PennTango resumes this fall!

Lori Coyle will be teaching our 2-session bootcamp on Sep 19 and 26, from 7-10pm, at Cafe 58, Irvine Auditorium (3401 Spruce St).

Bootcamp is accessible to all levels – no dance experience, no partner, and no special shoes required! Dress comfortably in clothes that are easy to move in. Shoes should be securely attached to your feet (no flip-flops) and smooth-soled if possible; sneakers work well.

Please register on eventbrite – registration fee covers both bootcamp sessions, as well as classes for the whole semester!

Beginner and intermediate classes will continue through the semester. If you have any questions about which class to attend please ask a board member, more details to follow at bootcamp.

Join us for a Sunday evening practica on December 8th!

Join us one and all for a fun evening of a short class and Practica on 12/8/19. The class will be at 7 pm and open dancing will start at 8 pm. The class will be accessible to beginners so it is a great opportunity to bring friends who are interested in trying tango. It will also be a great opportunity to put everything you have been learning this semester to use on the dance floor. Free for all PennTango members and all Penn students/affiliates ($10 for everyone else). No experience needed. Refreshments will be provided.

No, if you missed bootcamp but have some tango experience (PennTango or elsewhere) you can still register for regular classes for the same flat fee. Register using the link below or bring the registration fee in cash to class ($35).

No, special shoes are not required. A pair of comfortable shoes which allow a natural movement of the foot are great for starting tango. All dancers will want to avoid backless shoes (flip-flops, mules, etc), since you will be walking backwards. Bulky shoes, and rubbery-soled shoes (like hiking shoes) will be difficult to pivot and dance in– smooth-soled shoes are preferred.

By popular demand PennTango is having will be having two tango workshops during the summer led by our wonderful teacher Lori Coyle.

The first workshop is TONIGHT Monday August 12th from 6-8 pm and will be on Tango essentials.

The second workshop is Wednesday August 14th from 6-8 pm and will be on Milonga essentials.

Both workshops will be held in Bodek Lounge, Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce St. Bodek is on the first floor at the West end of the building. Check out our facebook event.

If you were a member of PennTango last Spring semester both workshops are free. (What a great deal!)

If you were not a member of PennTango last Spring, the workshops are $5 each.

Which class should I attend?

Beginner class is perfect for people who have completed bootcamp or have a small amount of Tango experience elsewhere.

Intermediate class is perfect for people who have roughly a year of tango experience. (Either completed two semesters of PennTango or have experience elsewhere.)

Practica is for everyone!

I am coming to intermediate class, can I stay for beginner class?

Yes! Intermediate class attendees are very much encouraged to stay for beginner class and Practica. There is no additional fee for attending both classes.

I am coming to beginner class, can I come early to observe intermediate?

Yes! You are more than welcome to come early to observe the intermediate class.

Do I need a partner?

No, we will rotate partners throughout the class so a partner is not needed.

This semester, the GAPSA student life program is generously subsidizing the subscription fee for Penn graduate/professional students. This brings the fee down to $20 for Penn graduate and professional students. The fee for Penn undergrads and non-Penn remains $35.
